Hi My name is Keyara Brown and I am a DONA Certified Birth doula and aspiring midwife. I live in Misawa, Japan with my husband and two children. While pregnant with my first child I felt this amazing empowerment while giving birth. The experience was intense, overwhelming, and amazing all at the same time! I had horrible back labor and was grateful to have my husband and doula there to encourage and uplift me when I wanted to give up. My desire for an unmedicated birth become a reality because of the incredible support I had. When I became pregnant with my daughter I knew I wanted to recreate the same birthing experience while in Japan. We soon found out that support in the form of a doula was nonexistent in the area we were stationed. I knew then, that I wanted to change that and started the process of becoming a doula. Every individual deserves to have the birth that they desire. I wanted to empower other women to have the birth they wanted no matter if they were overseas away from home or in the states surrounded by family and friends. My role is to help facilitate a safe, positive and memorable birthing experiences, by offering evidence-based information, physical and emotional support during this time. I am currently in the process of becoming a DONA certified doula.
